We use them currently to host a couple blogs, now that doesn’t mean they are for everybody. If you need to run a custom shopping cart then we would suggest a company like ixwebhosting, but if you just need a reliable host for a good price then we would highly recommend them.
The Good 
They may be the best web host for newbies, since they have one of the largest support systems we have come across. Their 1 click install feature make setting up most any app so easy that even a 5 year old could start their own blog.
The Bad
If you are claiming to be the best web host then you had better be offing VPS, Dedicated servers and Windows Hosting.

Hostmonster best web host for start-up, decent long term.
I’ve used Hostmonster for going on 6 years now. I have over 9 domains with them. The fantastico delux from Cpanel is great for start-ups or those tinkering. Their transfer and database up/download is incredibly easy and always available. I have yet to fill the invisible quota with my 9 domains, 2 of which being video heavy. 9 databases later I couldn’t be more pleased with that aspect. There are times when it seems high bandwidth slows down site availability… but this hasn’t happened in a while, and I believe the problem has been worked on. I have used their customer service/tech support, a CSR called me in less than a hour and walked me through the problem.
