Our Opinion Of Hostgator Webhosting, Solid webhost with plenty of features to keep even the web geeks happy for a long time. We know lots of people love these guys but they aren’t for everyone. Windows hosting is a little lack luster, we would suggest using Easycgi. Don’t bother with the dedicated server either since they are far to expensive for most.

The Good

Customer service, these guys got it! Now they aren’t going to help you design your website and answer every question you have about writing code, but if you have a problem with any feature that they offer in their plans you will receive a quick response.

Now we can’t tell you they offer any features that most any other large hosting firm doesn’t offer, besides a huge archive of pre-made web templates that you can use for free.

The Bad

If you are going to be opening a store front you will need to sign up with their Business plan which runs $12.95 a month if you pay for 3 years in advance.

We really didn’t care for their dedicated server service and the lack of VPS which isn’t really an issue if you are only in the market for a shared web hosting plan.

I had a much different experience with them a few years back, they lost my website and forgot to re-register my domain name. I would never use these guys again. I now use hostmonster for my personal blog.

Been with them for over 4 years no problems. Customer service is great, I just wish the price was cheaper. Since you can host multiple domain on one account I have 2 ecommerce sites a few blogs and a joomla magazine style site. Hope this helps someone.

The worst of the worst. We have had so many problems with Hostgator Hosting over the years that it’s really beyond words to describe how terrible they are. There is not a month that goes by that they don’t screw up something with our site functionality or mail servers and then blame the customer. You shouldn’t have to constantly worry about your host sabotaging your website by their incompetence. Save your self a lot of misery. Find a good, competent webhost. Hostgator Hosting ain’t it.
